Alternative Neuroscience Careers

United Kingdom

Open to: Academic | Student

One of the most difficult decisions for a PhD student or PostDoc is whether or not to pursue a career in academia. To support you in making informed choices about what to do next, we have invited two speakers who will share their experiences in transitioning from academia to other industries:

Dr Georgina Meakin: completed a PhD in molecular genetics and an MSc in Forensic and Analytical Science at the University of Hudderfield and as since worked as a practicing Forensic Scientist at The Forensic Institute in Glasgow and was involved in over 100 cases throughout the UK and in New York. She is now a lecturer in Crime and Forensic Science at UCL.

Dr Philippa Moss: completed her PhD in HIV-associated painful neuropathies at Imperial, and as since worked as science communicator and content manager at the Science Museum with BBC’s Tomorrow’s World. She is now a science communication officer based at Imperial College London.
