Speaker information

Dr Steve Hewitt, Senior Lecturer, University of Birmingham, Senior Lecturer in the Dept. of American and Canadian Studies at the University of Birmingham. He has published a number of books and articles related to security and intelligence in the past and present and in a Canadian, American, and British context. He is also President of the British Association for Canadian Studies.

In this presentation Steve Hewitt draws historical lessons from Canadian counter-terrorism operations during the October Crisis of 1970 and the bombing of the Air India flight from Montreal to London in June 1985 and discusses how they are relevant to the 9/11 era.
