Farr Short Courses: Hospital Patient Records for Audit and Research

Location

The Farr Institute London (link Map)
222 Euston Road | London | NW1 2DA | United Kingdom

Open to: Academic | Student

A one day introduction for clinicians and researchers interested in using data from hospital patient records for audit or research.

What are the opportunities and challenges in using hospital electronic patient records for research? Why is there no hospital equivalent of primary care research databases such as CPRD? Why is hospital data so hard for researchers to access? When do I need permission? Who needs consent?

We will showcase interesting examples and outline ways to improve the research-readiness of hospital data.

Part of 'Harnessing Electronic Health Records for Research', a unique programme of 13 inter-related short courses in the rapidly developing field of electronic health records research.
