Judit Makara is a group leader at the Institute of Experimental Medicine of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (Budapest, Hungary.

Brief Biography After obtaining an M.D. degree, Judit received her Ph.D. from the Semmelweis University (Hungary). She worked as a postdoc with Tamas Freund (Hungary) and with Jeff Magee (Janelia Research Campus, USA), and then returned to her home country in 2011. Her lab focuses on understanding the rules and regulation of local interactions and integration of synaptic inputs in dendrites of hippocampal neurons, and aims to explore the role of these mechanisms in the generation of functional neuronal ensembles underlying spatial memory.
