We usually think of bubbles in association with baths and champagne, but these little heroes of the physical world have far more to offer than that. Dr Helen Czerski (UCL) is studying how the bubbles formed by breaking waves out at sea help the ocean to breathe, and how their influence varies across the oceans of the world. She will talk about why these bubbles matter, how she studies them and how something as small as a bubble can affect something as big as a planet.

The Pint of Science festival 2014 will see some of world’s best scientific researchers travel to pubs across the UK to discuss their latest findings with you.

Attendees will have the chance to get face-to-face with the people involved in carrying out current research. You can listen to them talk, join in games and quizzes, or just enjoy a chat over a pint.
