Objects of curiousity: German gems

Roberts 106 Lecture Theatre | Roberts Building (link Map)
Malet Place | London | WC1E 7JE | United Kingdom

Open to: Academic | Alumni | Public | Student
Admission: Free
Ticketing: Pre-booking essential

While a recent British Museum exhibition presented German history through iconic objects, our panellists from the UCL German Department present a very alternative view of German-speaking lands through an inspired choice of curious, quirky or ephemeral objects, which are no less deeply significant in the unexpected light they cast on times, places and attitudes past and present.

Our audience’s hands-on encounters will spark discussion of these objects’ intended functions as well as their transformed roles in their current custodians’ research, framing the objects in areas of language, history and daily life untouched by museums.

A drinks reception follows in the Roberts Foyer G02.

This event is part of the UCL Festival of the Arts.
