Doctors of the Dark Side is a documentary (director: Martha Davis) which exposes how psychologists and physicians implemented and covered up the torture of detainees in US-controlled military prisons. The stories of 4 detainees and the doctors involved in their abuse show how essential doctors have been to the torture program, and how professional bodies for medicine and psychology responded to their members’ involvement in torture.
This will be followed by discussion, led by Prof Philippe Sands (UCL Laws), Dr Nimisha Patel (UEL & ICHHR), and Dr Anita Berlin (UCL Medical School), chair Dr Saladiin Meckled-Garcia (UCL Institute for Human Rights), and introduced by Dr Amanda Williams (UCL PALS & ICHHR).
