The Striatum

Kennedy Lecture Theatre | Wellcome Trust Building, Institute of Child Health (link Map)
30 Guilford Street | London | WC1N 1EH | United Kingdom

Open to: Academic | Student

Sponsored by The Sainsbury Wellcome Centre & Gatsby Computational Neuroscience Unit. The striatum occupies a central position in the acquisition and expression of affectively-charged behaviour. It is associated with anatomically distinctive internal and external circuits, is the target of rich cocktails of neuromodulators, and is implicated in many neurological and psychiatric diseases. It has been the focus of a huge wealth of experimental and theoretical studies at multiple scales of investigation.
