Sawdust and Threads is an exhibition that takes de-accessioned museum objects as its material. After first drawing the objects, artist Caroline Wright carefully deconstructs them, reducing them to their component parts.

Sawdust and Threads poses questions about the nature of museum collections. Who owns these objects and how is the value of an object defined? Is value being removed or re-ascribed during this process of deconstruction? Is this the death of the museum object or is it rather its unique afterlife? A life that lives on through the drawings given to the participating museums in return for their fascinating and inspiring objects.

Visit the North Lodge between 17 - 23 Feb and watch the artistic process unfold as the objects are returned to their component parts. The drawings will be on show whilst the performance takes place.

There is also a talk with the artist - 23 February, 1pm to 2pm, Garwood Lecture Theatre, UCL

Closed on 22 Feb.
