Abstract: The research in my laboratory has been centered on understanding how auditory information is progressively transformed and encoded by neural circuits along the ascending/descending central auditory pathway for generating perception and behaviors. Here, I will discuss two topics, the behavioral state-dependent modulation of information processing in the auditory cortex and the neural circuit basis, and the auditory cortical control of innate defense behavior through corticofugal projections.
