Speaker information

Liz Pellicano, Professor of Autism Education, Centre for Research in Autism and Education (CRAE)

The Staff Disability Forum bring you this talk in harmony with National Autism Awareness Month.

The talk will consider some of the social and ethical issues related to autism, issues that might help or hinder us from doing our research, and our practice, well. We will also talk about some of the decisions that researchers, clinicians and educators make every day, including the focus of autism research, the terms we use to talk about autism, and the kind of practices that are used to intervene with autistic people – decisions from which autistic people and their families are so often excluded or included in only very tokenistic ways.
