The ERC Calendars project organizes a series of workshops on specific themes. The aim of these workshops is to share, discuss, and broaden our research with colleagues from the wider academic community. Contributors to the workshops include members of our research team and international experts from outside the project. The workshops are open to anyone interested.

The theme of our first workshop is ‘Diversity and unity in ancient and medieval calendars’. In a sense, this theme captures the ERC Calendars project as a whole, as it is closely related to the main research questions of the project: how ancient and medieval calendars evolved, through processes of standardization and fixation, from diversity to unity. Contributions to this workshop include a broad range of periods and calendars, from the Roman Empire to medieval Islamic, Christian, and Jewish calendars.
