John Ford’s film offers a mythic depiction of a youthful Lincoln. His Lincoln, beautifully played by Henry Fonda, fits the director’s political idealism. This talk by Professor Iwan Morgan will focus on how the film allegorises Lincoln’s future role as a Civil War leader and his willingness to fight for the values he believed in.
