Speaker information
Prof Victor Bulmer-Thomas, UCL
Prof Victor Bulmer-Thomas, Honorary Professor (UCL - Institute of the Americas) is giving three lectures to coincide with the publication of his book The Economic History of the Caribbean since the Napoleonic Wars. The third talk explores the economic development of the Caribbean from 1960 to the present. This period was marked by the rise of service exports in all countries and it brought with it a rapid rise in GDP per head in most countries. However, the model entered a period of crisis after 2000 and the lecture will also consider which alternatives are most viable.
Entrance is free of charge, but you are strongly advised to register your attendance.
