In May 2016 award-winning playwrights Caroline Bird, Suhayla El-Bushra, Lulu Raczka and Chris Thorpe will present four different versions of Euripides’ c. 405 BC tragedy Iphigenia at Aulis at the Gate Theatre, Notting Hill. The UCL Theatre Translation Forum has renewed its partnership with the Gate Theatre and will host a seminar coinciding with these productions, aiming to facilitate dialogue between scholars of translation and tragedy in contemporary theatre and theatre practitioners behind the new versions. Guest speakers include Clare Foster (UCL), Kyriaki Ioannidou (UCL), and Sarah Grochala (Central School of Speech and Drama), alongside playwrights Subayla El-Bushra and Chris Thorpe.
