Speaker information

Hilary Jackson
David Laughrin
Peter Waller

Hilary Jackson, David Laughrin and Peter Waller were all senior officials who have recently retired from working in Whitehall. They will talk about the strengths and weaknesses of the UK civil service, the highs and lows of their careers, and the pleasure and the pain of working with Ministers and with Parliament. Their combined experience covers a dozen Whitehall departments, and their stories will bring alive the satisfaction but also the frustrations of developing and implementing public policy in the UK civil service.
