This interdisciplinary event, organised by Myriam Hunter-Henin (Laws) and Carol Vincent (IOE) brings together speakers from Education with colleagues from UCL Laws to discuss 'British Values'.

The 'Fundamental British values' discourse is highly controversial. The presentations will consider the impact of the government requirement to promote British values on education (drawing on empirical research), on Law (as the rhetoric of Fundamental British Values, often closely associated with the anti-extremist Prevent policy, sits uneasily with human rights and non-discrimination duties), and on politics (resonates with current debates re Brexit, on 'Britishness').
