Speaker information
We are pleased to host this lecture by Jaron Lanier a major founder of the field, and indeed credited with coining the term "virtual reality". He was the founder of VPL Research in the 1980s, which was one of the first companies ever to create and sell virtual reality equipment - head-mounted displays, data gloves, and software and systems for virtual reality and shared virtual environments. Jaron is currently with Microsoft Research, working, amongst other things on multi-person virtual reality.
He is on tour in the UK publicising his new book Dawn of the New Everything: A Journey Through Virtual Reality.
