UCL Medical Science Collection: Disposal?
Haldane Room |
Gower St | London | WC1E 6BT | United Kingdom
In October last year UCL Museums & Collections held 'Disposal?' – an interactive exhibition about what we should keep and what we should dispose of. Moving on from this general discussion, we now want your opinions about the medical science objects stored at UCL.
For many years UCL has been storing a disparate collection of medical science objects like Joseph Lister’s wheelchair, bleeding bowls and a garrotte. Some objects relate to the history of our departments and others have a more tenuous link. A university-wide collections review in 2008-09, highlighted several issues about these objects such as, under use, poor storage and poor documentation. Decisions have to be made about these objects and we need your help to make the best use of them. So please come along and tell us if you can: use these objects for teaching or research; find storage or display space for these objects; tell us anything new about these objects?; think of creative ways to use these objects?
