Professor Robin Blackburn, University of Essex

We are pleased to announce that Professor Robin Blackburn (Essex) will give this year's UCL Neale Lecture in British History, on 'Slavery and Finance in Britain's Empire of Free Trade'. This a free, public lecture, and will start at 5.30pm. A reception will follow. The lecture will also open the 2012 Neale Colloquium "Emancipation, slave-ownership and the remaking of the British imperial world", taking place over the following two days. The conference is organised by the Legacies of British Slave-ownership project in the Department of History, UCL.
