Speaker information

Tina Haux, University of Kent

In the light of increasing separation and divorce, there have been mounting concerns about the involvement of fathers in their children’s lives from a range of perspectives. Much of the concern focuses around the wellbeing of children of separated parents and the potential benefits from maintaining contact with their birth father. In this study Tina Haux will provide new insights into the question of the drivers of post-separation contact and the extent to which such post-separation contact represents a continuation of pre-separation parenting, specifically fathering, practices. Uniquely, she will focus on parental characteristics and fathers’ parenting behaviours measured prior to separation and link them to patterns of contact evaluated after separation.
