The first Russian feature films were made just over a century ago and from the start the gaze of Russian filmmakers has been trained not only on the inhabitants of the country but on the wider world. This talk by Professor Julian Graffy examines the history of this look out into the world, and also considers how Russian films about foreigners help us understand the mentalities and the attitudes of the Russians themselves.

Regisatration recommended.
