El Sicario, or hit man, was a professional killer for one of Mexico’s most notorious drug cartels. He has killed hundreds of people and is an expert in kidnap and torture. For many years he was also a commander of the state police in Chihuahua. In a motel room on the U.S. / Mexico border, his face hidden behind a black mesh hood, the ‘sicario’ tells his story.

A winner at Venice Film Festival and Viennale in 2010, El Sicario was also awarded Grand Jury Prize at this year’s Open City London Documentary Festival.
