Speaker information

Professor Heather Viles, University of Oxford

Heritage Science is a new, dynamic, cross-disciplinary approach to the application and development of science to the discovery, understanding, conservation, management and use of cultural heritage. All heritage has an environment, and understanding the interactions of heritage materials with their environment is at the heart of many key heritage science questions. In this talk Professor Viles will examine the challenges facing heritage science, and how the field might best develop within the context of today's intense human influence on the global environment (often called the Anthropocene).
