In most areas of medicine it is the results from randomised controlled trials that ultimately decide whether or not a potential treatment has a place in the management of a clinical condition. Brain science is no different. Advances in the treatment of conditions such as multiple sclerosis, stroke and epilepsy have ultimately been determined by successful clinical trials.
This NeuroTrials day will describe the design and implementation of all phases of trial. Uniquely, it will be from the twin viewpoints of clinicians and statisticians involved in designing and carrying out clinical trials. As such it will be appropriate for clinicians (e.g. neurologists and neurosurgeons), and other health professional in both the public and private sectors, at all levels of seniority. The roles of the clinical research network, clinical research facility and clinical trials unit will also be discussed.
