Homer is considered to be first and greatest of the epic poets, and is best known as the author of the Iliad and the Odyssey. Homer's verses were first set down in writing around 700 BC, soon after the Greeks invented their own alphabet. Join Dr Antony Makrinos and Belinda É. S for a short talk about Homer and Cavafy, and to hear three of Cavafy’s poems in English translation with a piano accompaniment.
