Speaker information

Dr Samia Bano, Senior Lecturer in Law, Centre of Islamic and Middle Eastern Law, SOAS, University of London. Her research interests include the practice of Muslim family law in the UK and Europe, multiculturalism, citizenship, Islamic jurisprudence and human rights and issues concerning the rights of Muslim women and gender equality. She is author of Muslim women and Shariah Councils: Transcending the boundaries of Community and Law.
Professor Gus John, Chair of the Communities Empowerment Network and Associate Professor of Education at the UCL Institute of Education, London.

For this year's 9th Annual Conference, it will discuss the current research and policy relating to education for human rights and democratic citizenship.
