The 2014 UCL Legal and Political Theory Forum will investigate the theoretical and practical issues of privacy, secrecy, and surveillance in a modern democracy. Topics addressed will range from theoretical questions on the legitimate scope of state power to current controversies surrounding Edward Snowden and the NSA. We look forward to creating an opportunity for distinguished academics, politicians, and other public policy practitioners to engage with some of the philosophical issues underlying current debates in public policy.
