Location

IAS Seminar Room 20, South Wing | Wilkins Building (link Map)
Gower St | London | WC1E 6BT | United Kingdom

Open to: Academic | Alumni | Public | Student
Admission: Free

How does Twilight question what it means to be human? What does the high-school prom tell us about heteronormativity, and the construction of femininity? How does American Graffiti refuse the persuasive lure of nostalgia? This session considers the complexities in the construction of identity in the teen movie, a genre that has often been dismissed as ‘the odious commercial norm’ of Hollywood cinema.
