Speaker information

Steven Chu, Stanford University, is a renowned physicist, known for his work in the area of laser cooling, for which he won the 1997 Nobel Prize in Physics. He has also had a high-profile career in politics, serving as President Obama's Energy Secretary from 2009 to 2013.

Science and technology has profoundly transformed the lives of much of humanity. The industrial and agricultural revolutions are also changing the future destiny of our planet. Professor Chu will discuss the necessity, challenges, and opportunities in innovation and policy that will be needed to transition to a sustainable future.
