Speaker information

Rob Briner, Professor of Organizational Psychology, University of Bath

Given that evidence-based practice is very likely to improve the quality and outcomes of decision-making in any field why has this approach not been adopted in management?

This presentation will consider how we can overcome some of the main barriers to evidence-based management including our cognitive limitations, management fads and fashions, organizational politics, consultants, management school educators and researchers. While, in principle, management schools should be leading the way in promoting and supporting evidence-based practice in management our own educational and scientific practices are inhibiting the development of evidence-based practice.
