Speaker information

Professor Jim Skea, President, The Energy Institute
Professor Jim Watson, Director, UK Energy Research Centre (UKERC)
Professor Paul Ekins, Director, UCL Institute for Sustainable Resources

This event, to launch the book Global Energy, which is the outcome of the second phase of work of the UK Energy Research Centre (UKERC), reviews the global energy scene and the challenges posed by the need for secure, affordable and environmentally sustainable energy.

It comes at an important moment in global attempts to address climate change – just a few weeks before the world’s climate negotiators gather in Paris to try to forge a global climate agreement that will avert dangerous climate change.

Internationally recognised speakers from UKERC, UCL’s Institute for Sustainable Resources (UCL ISR), Imperial College and CIRED in France will review the options, and discuss the energy and climate solutions, in the context of the evidence laid out in the book.
