Speaker information

Sir George Young, Leader of the House of Commons

PLEASE NOTE THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELLED - APOLOGIES FOR ANY INCONVENIENCE CAUSED. The expenses crisis pushed parliamentary reform to the top of the political agenda, ensuring it was one of the key priorities of the Coalition Government. 18 months in, and another scandal - phone hacking - has once again propelled Parliament into the spotlight; although this time, Parliament has been widely praised for its role. Leader of the House of Commons Sir George Young will discuss the Coalition Government\'s first year of managing Parliament: how things changed, whether Parliament is a more effective institution and what plans the Coalition has to ensure that the public can be persuaded to put their trust in MPs.
