To mark International Women's Day 2013, on the evening of Friday 8th March, our first major public event of the year will be a panel discussion, with audience participation, on "Gender and Disasters"
This panel discussion and question and answer session will explore:
How big is the gender difference in the impact of disasters?
- Overall statistics
- Specific examples
Why does this gender bias exist?
What is being done to address this bias?
- Policies - from governments, international bodies, regulators, NGOs, etc.
- Direct action initiatives
- What strategies are effective to address this gender imbalance?
