On 18 March, Russians will go to the polls to elect a new president – except that the likely winner will be far from new. Vladimir Putin – who was first elected Russian president in 2000 – is widely anticipated to secure another term, keeping him in the presidency until (at least ) 2024. Can we really refer to this event as an election? Or is it, rather, an empty exercise of facade democracy? This event will bring together SSEES academics to discuss the significance of this upcoming political event.

This event has been organised by the UCL SSEES Post Soviet Press Group.

Registration is free but essential, please register for a ticket via Eventbrite.
