UCL and the Max Planck Society (MPS), two of Europe’s leading research institutions, are holding a one-day conference, celebrating UK-German research collaboration and the close ties between both institutions. The conference will focus on collaborative research topics that are of mutual interest to both institutions.

The event is hosted jointly by Professor Malcolm Grant, President and Provost of UCL, and Professor Peter Gruss, President of the MPS. Keynote speeches from leading figures in the European research policy field will include David Willetts (Minister for Universities and Science, UK), Georg Boomgaarden (Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to the UK), Dr Georg Schütte (State Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, Germany) and Dr Wolfgang Burtscher (Deputy Director-General of DG Research, European Commission).

Attendance is free and includes buffet lunch and evening drinks reception.
