W.G. Sebald – New Views of an Old Master

Lecture Theatre 1.02 | Malet Place Engineering Building (link Map)
Malet Place | London | WC1E 7JE | United Kingdom

Open to: Alumni | Public | Academic | Student
Ticketing: Pre-booking essential

The German-born émigré author W.G. Sebald burst onto the international literary scene in the 1990s with an astonishing series of prose writings as he explored the themes of loss and exile as part of his wider interest in modernity as a history of destruction. In this discussion Dr Stephanie Bird and Dr Mererid Puw Davies will draw attention to the lesser known aspects of his writing: his taste for the comic and his proximity to the 1968 revolts and their thinking.

Registration recommended.
