Randomised Controlled Trials: the Straitjacket of Mental Health Research?

C103 | Tait Building (link Map)
Northampton Square | London | EC1V 0HB | United Kingdom

Open to: Academic | Student

This seminar is jointly presented by the Centre for Maternal and Child Health Research and the Centre for Mental Health Research.

This seminar is based on a paper of the same name written for the McPin Foundation.

Speaker: Alison Faulkner, Independent Service User Consultant.

In the seminar, Alison will explore some of the limitations of Randomised controlled trials (RCTs) for mental health research, and will look at some of the ways forward from a service user/survivor perspective. In doing so, she will touch on the relatively new academic discipline of Mad Studies, which foregrounds the knowledge and views of psychiatric survivors.

Lunch available from 12:45pm.
