‘28/30. Good.’ Accessing Gordon Childe and the Institute of Archaeology through Student Records: Archives, Memory and Nostalgia

Lecture Theatre G.06 | UCL Institute of Archaeology (link Map)
31–34 Gordon Square | London | WC1 | United Kingdom

Open to: Academic | Alumni | Public | Student
Admission: Free
Ticketing: Pre-booking essential

Two archives of students’ work dating to the 1950s allow us to see how academics in the Institute collaborated with one another in day-to-day teaching, transmitting and sharing ideas under the influence of the famous former director, Professor Vere Gordon Childe. This lecture by Dr Katie Meheux will discuss how memory and nostalgia act to preserve, transmit and distort ideas about past lives.

Registration recommended.
