Dr Rachel Farrell, Consultant Neurologist/Honorary Senior Lecturer, NHNN In this lecture I will discuss existing treatment strategies for problematic MS symptoms focussing on spasticity and walking impairment, present data from the unit and future research directions.

Biog: Dr Rachel Farrell is a consultant neurologist & honorary senior lecturer at the NHNN Queen Square. Dr Farrell specialises in multiple sclerosis (MS) particularly symptom management and neurorehabilitation. She completed a PhD in the department Neuroimmunology at the UCL Institute of Neurology, investigating aspects of disease modifying treatment for MS and role of viruses in the aetiology of MS. MS pathophysiology and treatment continue to be research interests. She is the CI of a phase II trial for a novel therapeutic agent for MS spasticity. Clinically Dr Farrell is part of the complex spasticity service and leads a multidisciplinary service to manage walking impairment in people with MS.
