A married couple are faced with a difficult decision - to improve the life of their child by moving to another country or to stay in Iran and look after a deteriorating parent who has Alzheimer's disease. A Separation won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film in 2012, becoming the first Iranian film to win the award.

The Black History Month 2013 film screenings aim to promote BME cinematic genres that tell stories from different perspectives. Screenings are open to all to provide engagement with a combination of documentaries, topical issues, storytelling and light entertainment. A short post-film chat will follow each film.
