Professor David Osrin, Inaugural Lecture: ‘These Little Gardens: Growing Up in Public Health’

Gustave Tuck Lecture Theatre | Wilkins Building (link Map)
Gower St | London | WC1E 6BT | United Kingdom

Open to: Academic | Student

Professor Anthony Costello, Director, UCL Institute for Global Health, invites you to attend an Inaugural Lecture to be given by David Osrin following his promotion to Professor of Global Health.

David is UCL Professor of Global Health and Wellcome Trust Senior Research Fellow in Clinical Science. After training in paediatrics in the UK and Australia, he has worked on maternal and child health in South Asia for 17 years. The lecture describes his research, which has followed a steadily broadening – and entertainingly digressive - path from newborn survival in rural settings to women’s and children’s health in urban ones. Beginning with trials of interventions to improve newborn survival and birth weight in Nepal, his work has included trials of complex urban interventions to improve a range of outcomes in informal settlements in Mumbai, and has broadened to include work on preventing gender-based violence, research ethics, citizen science and public engagement.
