Dr Joe Cain, UCL Science and Technology Studies
Featuring extensive and often spectacular footage of Africa, this 1935 film is set in the Gombi district of Nigeria during the Colonial days of the British Empire. The Sanders of the title is the British Commissioner, played by Leslie Banks; but the real star is his right-hand man and 'singing king' portrayed by Paul Robeson. The film will be introduced by film buff Dr Joe Cain and a complimentary drinks reception and private view of the museum will follow the screening.
