Starring Jack Hawkins, as the builder of the Great Pyramid and Joan Collins as his decadently ambitious young wife this classic slice of Hollywood kitsch is a fascinating attempt by Nobel Prize-winner William Faulkner to breathe new life into the genre. Although only partially successful, it has many memorable elements, not least in its lush cinematography, its denouement, and in providing Collins with the role she was born to play. Introduced by John J Johnston.
