Speaker information: Cliff Abraham.

Cliff is a Professor of Psychology at the University of Otago. In 1997 he was elected Fellow of the Royal Society of New Zealand, and in 2007 he was awarded one of the Society's James Cook Fellowships. In 2009 he received the Distinguished Research Medal from the University of Otago. He was the director of the NZ Brain Health Research Centre from 2008 until 2014, and now sits on the management committee as past director. His research interests include synaptic plasticity, metaplasticity and memory formation, with a particular focus on cellular and molecular events in the hippocampus, and also clinical research areas such as Alzheimer’s disease, schizophrenia, neurogenesis and neuroprotection, using animal models.
