Digital interventions and psychological therapies

Location

Engineering Front Executive Suite 103 (link Map)
Torrington Place | London | WC1E 7JE | United Kingdom

Open to: Academic | Student

Speaker: Stuart Linke, honorary research fellow at the UCL eHealth Unit and consultant clinical psychologist.

Decisions need to be made about which are the active components that must be included, who is suited to a digital approach and how best to engage and retain users. Even more challenging is the perennial question about the role of the “therapeutic relationship” and if that has any meaning when engaging with digital psychological interventions.

This UCL Institute of Digital Health seminar will examine these issues and Stuart will draw on his experience of developing an explicitly psychological intervention aimed at reducing harmful drinking and evaluating it in a pragmatic setting. He will also discuss current work in the NHS providing computerised Cognitive Behaviour Therapy for mood disorders as recommended by NICE and the growing development of broader digital platforms for behaviour change and supporting self-care for people with complex mental health problem.
