The UK's energy future is of paramount importance. The twin imperatives of responding to climate change and securing energy security necessitate serious consideration of the UK's future Energy supply, and how the UK can make the transition to energy efficiency and security. This is likely to involve a diversity of sources, including nuclear and solar energy. However, energy futures remain considerably uncertain. The policy rhetoric is not necessarily matched by action; the UK's energy supply remains heavily dependent on fossil fuels, and there is little indication that the major energy companies are moving to significantly diversity their energy sources in the foreseeable future.
