Speaker information

Cristina Cammarano, Salisbury University, Maryland, USA

The crisis of Philosophy of Education, caught between the past, with a storied inheritance of traditions, and the future, undetermined and somewhat ominous, contains a promise of vitality. The present is an intermediate status wherein Philosophy of Education can uncover its meaning by showing that its actualization, philosophizing, is an education in itself. Philosophy has the capacity to stay in the present continuous: a verb tense, an action and activity of a certain kind. By inviting this type of experience in the university classrooms it is possible to rescue Philosophy of Education from the risk of disappearance and of meaninglessness.
