Prof. Sir Michael Owen, Cardiff University

Mike Owen has been one of the leading figures in identifying the genes that confer risk for Schizophrenia in addition to his interests in relation to other psychiatric and neurodegenerative disorders. His work uses a combination of molecular genetic approaches and he is increasingly interested in the impact of genetic discoveries on the understanding of disease mechanisms and classification.

He is Director of both the Institute of Psychological Medicine and Clinical Neuroscience and the MRC Centre for Neuropsychiatric Genetics and Genomics at Cardiff University.
