Speaker information
David Price, Medical Physics, UCLH
Speaker: Mr David Price – Clinical Scientist, NMR section, Medical Physics, UCLH. Host: UCLH Medical Physics Seminars. MR is sometimes regarded as a ‘safe’ modality because of the absence of ionising radiation. In reality MRI presents a number of hazards that have resulted in death and serious injury to both workers and patients- where proper procedures and policies have not been followed. This talk seeks to outline the main safety hazards we have to protect against and discuss some of the pertinent issues today such as the use of increasingly high magnetic fields and the safety of medical implants and devices in the MR environment.
